Am I crazy? Is this a pipe dream? Can this really work? As a small business owner myself, I know that you have asked this question at some point, whether it happened when your business was only a glint in your eye or in the wild throes of a pandemic.
Go to any business consultant, and they will work with you on getting there - but is “there” an undefined goal of being “successful,” or a clearly defined financial goal? If indeed you have financial goals, are they realistic?
While I’m all about dreaming big, I’m not about dreaming bigger than reality; after all, for now we are all stuck in this place of reality, with the real need to feed our families and plan for our own retirement and beyond.
Let’s say your dream is big; that doesn’t mean it can’t be made into reality. And, it CAN be made into a “more confident than not,” realistic future. And, it can even be accelerated. However, dreaming REAL is the baseline for your big dreams.
What does that look like? It looks like a specific and thorough assessment of where you are at and where you are going, with real numbers, real strategy and real milestones for getting there.
It looks like putting pen to paper. It looks like actionable steps, measurement and accountability. It looks like laying concrete bricks for that dream you’re really building.
